Products | Phosphating
 Lacquered or powder finished articles need high quality iron or zinc phoshate coatings which have the following functions:
- To remove all residues of dirt or grease from the metal surface
- To provide a perfectly bonded phosphate layer upon which a paint or powder coating has perfect hold and to prevent the creepage of a corrosive agent
 The chemical reactions during phosphating tend to produce fine to granular crystalline mono and mixed crystal structures, against which you can shield your products through the use of passivations and oil emulsions. Our full program of phosphating products holds the answer to your problem and we will take on any challenge.
SURFASIT® - Iron phosphating products are listed under our trademark SURFASIT®. They are used for the protection of steel, aluminium and galvanised or electroplated surfaces. The advantages of this product line are:
- Cleaning and phosphating are carried out simultaneously. Available as salt mixtures or liquid concentrates, often as 1 component products.
- Phosphating can be achieved by either immersion and / or spraying.
- Wetting agents are almost completely biodegradeable (> 90%) and therefore comply with current waste water regulations. Even at low temperatures, they produce little to no foam.
- After a new make-up of solution, the pH value does not normally need to be adjusted.
SURFACOTE® - is the name given to our trademarked line of Zinc phosphating products, included in this range are also Zinc/Calcium phosphates. These products are used for the treatment of steel with a carbon content, or galvanised and electroplated items, and can be applied by both immersion or by spraying. The main characteristics of SURFACOTE® Concentrates are:
- Work as a lubricant during the cold metal formation of tubes or wire. Are excellent when bonding rubber to metal, produce a fine to granular crystal coating.
- Are ideal for use in rack or barrel application and consist mostly of 1 component.
- Meet the specifications of DIN 50942 (process groups D, E and F) as well as the US Federal TT-C-490, Type I requirements.
- Have a layer weight of 10 - 15 g/m2
- Some SURFACOTE® zinc phosphating processes require no changes to the acid ratio.
- Some processes work without the addition of nickel additives.
- Minimal sludge buildup.
- Better bath management due to the easier analysis of the process.
- Corrosion protection can be greatly improved through the use of SURFASEAL® passivations or SURFASEAL® protective oils.
SURFACOTE® - Manganese immersion phosphating using our SURFACOTE® MN-3 improves the "running in" of gearwheels, piston rings etc. and is ideal for the protection of steel parts with varying carbon content. It has the following properties:
- Production of anthracite-coloured to black manganese deposits. The crystal structure can be refined by pre-immersion in our SURFACOTE® Pre MN activating and grain refining solution.
- Minimal sludge build up.
- After new make-up bath, the acid ratio should not need adjusting.
SURFASEAL® - Passivations improve the corrosion resitance of iron and zinc phosphate layers and provide an excellent undercoat for improved adhesion of paints and laquers. They are:
- Free of chromium, nitrite or amine compounds.
- Ideal for immersion or spray application.
SURFASEAL® - Corrosion protection suitable for oil-in-water emulsions for additional corrosion protection.
